A1:
It is recommended for trolling motors with 30-70lb thrust. Get expert help for your trolling motor questions! Contact us directly at support.us@wattcycle.com.
Can I use it as the starting battery?
Can I use it as the starting battery?
A2:
No, it is designed for deep cycle energy storage, not for starting devices. For optimal performance and battery life, please use a dedicated starting battery.
What is a Group 24 battery?
What is a Group 24 battery?
A3:
A Group 24 battery is a standard size battery, dimensions are approximately 10.5 (L), 6.19 (W), and 8.88 (H) Inches. There might be slight variations depending on the specific manufacturer and model within the Group 24 category.
They are primarily designed as deep cycle batteries. This means they are built to provide a steady flow of power over a longer period, making them ideal for applications like powering RVs, boats, or running electronic devices off-grid with solar panels or wind turbines.
How to charge it?
How to charge it?
A4:
3 Easy Options
1. Solar Power:
Harness the sun's energy! With effective sunshine for 4.5 hours a day, a 300W solar panel system can fully charge your battery in a single day.
Solar panel flexibility: Larger solar panels (greater than 300W) can also charge your battery, but charging times may vary depending on sunlight intensity and duration.
2. Generator/Alternator:
Compatible power source is key: Ensure your generator or alternator provides a DC output. In this case, a DC-to-DC charger is needed to connect it to the battery.
AC output option: If your generator/alternator uses AC output, consult our recommendations for a suitable battery charger to connect it to your battery.
Charging recommendations:
Recommended Charging Voltage: 14.6V ± 0.2V
Recommended Charging Current:
20A (0.2C): Charges the battery to 100% capacity in approximately 5 hours.
50A (0.5C): Charges the battery to around 97% capacity in approximately 2 hours (faster charging, slightly lower capacity).
3. LiFePO4 Dedicated Chargers (for 12V Batteries):
Recommended charger: We recommend using a 14.6V battery charger specifically designed for LiFePO4 batteries.
Charging recommendations:
Recommended Charging Voltage: 14.6V ± 0.2V
Recommended Charging Current:
20A (0.2C): Charges the battery to 100% capacity in approximately 5 hours.
50A (0.5C): Charges the battery to around 97% capacity in approximately 2 hours (faster charging, slightly lower capacity).
Overall, we offer you the flexibility to choose the charging method that best suits your needs.
Do you have battery box for this battery?
Do you have battery box for this battery?
A5:
Not yet, the battery perfectly fits the Group 24 size battery box. And also it fits higher snap-top battery box like Group 27 and Group 31.
How long to charge the battery?
How long to charge the battery?
A6:
We recommend using a 14.6V battery charger specifically designed for this battery.
Charging recommendations:
Recommended Charging Voltage: 14.6V ± 0.2V
Recommended Charging Current: 20A (0.2C):
Charges the battery to 100% capacity in approximately 5 hours.
Can I safely charge it in cold weather (below freezing temperatures)?
Can I safely charge it in cold weather (below freezing temperatures)?
A7:
It has a recommended charging temperature range of 32°F to 122°F (0°C to 50°C).
Built-in Protection: For your safety and to optimize battery life, this battery features low-temperature charging protection. This function automatically cuts off charging when the temperature falls below 0°C (32°F).
Additional Tips: While the battery can be charged within this range, colder temperatures may slow down the charging process.
Whenever possible, it's recommended to charge your battery within the ideal temperature range for optimal performance and battery health.
What is the maximum connection in series or parallel?
What is the maximum connection in series or parallel?
A8:
Expand your power options! You can connect up to four batteries in series or parallel configurations (denoted as 4S or 4P). This allows you to increase the voltage (series) or capacity (parallel) of your battery system to meet your specific needs.
For safe and optimal performance, please follow these connection guidelines:
*Brand: You can only connect WattCycle brand batteries (ensure compatibility).
*Type: All batteries must be lithium type.
*Voltage: All batteries must have the same voltage (12V in this case).
*Capacity: All batteries must have the same capacity (100Ah).
*BMS: Ensure all batteries have the same Battery Management System (BMS).
*Purchase Date: Ideally, connect batteries purchased within 3-6 months of each other (for similar performance characteristics).
Not following these guidelines could damage your batteries.
We recommend consulting a qualified professional for assistance with battery connection.
What is the maximum output energy I can get?
What is the maximum output energy I can get?
A9:
20.80kWh.
With the 4S4P configuration, this allows you to quadruple the voltage (series) and capacity (parallel) of your battery system for maximum output energy.
Then the maximum output energy you get is equal to 20.80kWh. (12.8V*4*100Ah*4=20.80kWh)
What is the DOD?
What is the DOD?
A10:
DOD stands for "deep discharge" and refers to the percentage of a battery's total capacity used during each charge cycle.
In the case of lithium batteries, it is generally recommended to keep the depth of discharge (DOD) between 20% and 80% to extend the life of the battery.
As for the WattCycle 12V 100Ah LiFePO4 Battery, you can get 4,000 cycles at 100% DOD, 15,000 cycles at 60% DOD and 20,000 cycles at 40% DOD.
